How Can I Add YouTube Videos In PowerPoint

March 31st, 2010

How to Add YouTube videos to your PowerPoint Presentation

This article shows how you can easily add a YouTube video to your presentation – and how you can carry this off without any problems at all. All you have to do is simply follow the steps given below.

Method A

The obvious way is to download the video from the web using any of the online (or on PC) softwares available. Then convert the FLV video into AVI, WMA, or MPEG using a video converter (again, there are loads of them out there), and then embed the object in the presentation. However, in this process you might lose out on the video quality. But this is the safest bet.

Method B

If you are going to present at a place where you have access to an internet connection, you can afford to directly embed the YouTube video in your presentation. For this, you have to do the following:

  1. Click on the Office logo to the top-left and then click on PowerPoint Options.
  2. Go to the Popular tab.
  3. Select the check-box next to Show Developer tab in the Ribbon and click on OK.
  4. Navigate to Developer -> More Controls.
  5. In the list of objects in the new window, select Shockwave Flash Object and click OK.
  6. Create a box in the slide where you will put the video.
  7. Right-click on this box and select Properties.
  8. Select Shockwave Flash Object from the drop-down menu.
  9. Next to the Custom option, click on the small square that has three dots on it.
  10. This will open a Properties dialog for the Shockwave Flash Object. Paste the URL for the YouTube video (you can find it under URL to the right of the video page on YouTube) into the Movie URL section.
  11. Replace the ‘=’ and ‘?’ signs in the URL with ‘/’ sign.
  12. Click on OK.

That’s it – you are done. Your YouTube video is successfully embedded in your slide show – to be downloaded and viewed in real time.

Free Application To Make My Windows XP MAC Style – How To Browse Like In MAC

March 31st, 2010

My Exposé: The tiny application that makes your Vista PC look like a Mac

Do you secretly envy the cool look and style of the desktop of your friend’s Mac? When you come home to your age-old, typical Windows XP or Vista desktop, they might look drab compared to the jazzy taskbar, and application browser of the Mac. Moreover, it might be a long time before you finally decide to dump your PC and go for a Mac. Well, there is good news for you – you can simply use My Exposé, a desktop tweak that renders your Windows desktop to look more like a Mac than anything else.

My Exposé has been designed as a small and light tool that mimics the application browser and desktop styles of the Mac. This tool first carries out registry changes and then builds up a Mac-like environment by tweaking with the system’s settings at the registry level. Exposé is the name given to application browser – and My Exposé is just one of a series of mimics that are available out there, that bring the Mac feel right to your Windows desktop.

Some of the features include one-key browsing through opened windows – which is a relief after years of using Alt +Tab to go through the different opened windows. Other advantages of My Exposé are that it is minimal – building up on Vista’s Aero Interface – and uses only about 50MB of memory. It is also perhaps the smoothest Exposé imitator thus far.

However, it does have a few snags – first of which is that it does not support Windows XP. Plus, it has a few critical issues such as customizability that needs to be attended to. At the end of the day, it goes without saying that My Exposé is just a mimic – and does not nearly come as close to the real thing. It would in fact be wrong to expect this, as Exposé is a look that has been specially designed to fit in with the Mac hardware. Windows systems have an entirely different philosophy of design – and hence there is bound to be friction if you want to imitate one on the other.

Advice For Rectifying Problems With Your Computer

March 31st, 2010

Technology is so intertwined with everyday life that fixing technological items is imperative. Even Suffolk County computer repair and Nassau County computer repair are seeing an influx of calls and requests for assistance. There are a number of possible solutions for rectifying errors with your home PC or laptop. However, you may need to look into finding a professional for assistance.

When attempting to handle a PC problem, the first step should always be to reboot. A lot of issues will occur from leaving the system running for too long, especially if it is a family PC that is being used by multiple people. Turning the system off and giving it some time to cool down before rebooting is usually a good first step in trying to get the system to work again. However, this does ensure that you will be able to rectify whatever has gone wrong with the system. Because technology can be somewhat intimidating, many people forget the simple solutions like rebooting.

If for some reason rebooting does not seem to change the status of your PC system, then you will need to try another solution. Restoring your computer is usually a simple fix. Restoring your computer will make your computer as it was before the problem. Typically if you choose a date before the problem occurred, the computer will erase whatever problematic files were downloaded and return the PC to a safe state. Restoring typically will rectify most problems that come from corrupt files or misplaced processes.

You should look for professional assistance if you still cannot get your PC working. A laptop makes it simpler to handle because it is compact enough to take to a store. With all of the parts and the size of home PCs, it is more difficult to take to the store. There are professionals that can come to your house to pinpoint the problem for you. After a professional looks at your system you can decide what action to take. Sometimes replacing the entire PC is the only way to handle the issue.

PCs and technology in general can be somewhat stressful because it is not something that everyone can fix and can be somewhat expensive. It is important to wait for sales if you end up having to replace your system. A lot of stores will run sales that offer some sort of rebate that will help cut down on the cost.

Free Tricks To Speed Up Windows Vista

March 31st, 2010

How to use ReadyBoost to speed up Vista

Windows Vista has often been at the receiving end of many critiques and harsh reviews – but it has a few gems hidden in it as well. One of them is ReadyBoost, a simple application that jacks up the working speed of the Vista PC by using any portable memory – such as a USB, an SD card, etc. – as a disk cache. This can actually be a boon if you have been having a hard time dealing with Vista’s slow performance, and freezing up problems. This small application when used will improve the situation quite dramatically.

To activate ReadyBoost, you need to first plug in a USB thumb drive into your PC. As soon as you do his, in the Autoplay menu that crops up, you can see the option that says Speed up My System. This is the option that you have to select to startup ReadyBoost.

However, if the Autoplay dialog does not show (and this might happen due to a number of reasons), simply follow the steps given below.

  1. Open Computer using the Windows Explorer.
  2. Right-click on the Removable Drive icon and select Properties from the context menu that comes up.
  3. Click on the ReadyBoost tab.
  4. Select the option for Use this device, and set the Space to reserve for system speed to the maximum limit of the USB drive.
  5. Click on Apply.
  6. Click on OK.

After this is done, your Vista PC will se the USB as part of its virtual memory (disk cache) stock and you will not be able to store anything on this drive. This price is nothing compared to the increase in the performance speed of the system which becomes noticeable quite easily – particularly if your USB has a capacity of 4GB or higher.

One thing to note, however, is that you need to have a USB 2.0 for all the above to work.

How Can I Play AVCHD With M2TS Files On My Computer

March 31st, 2010

Playing AVCHD formats like M2TS with Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra

Most of the high definition camcorders that are available in the market nowadays record the videos in the AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) format. This encoding requires that your video files are saved with the M2TS file extension. Although a typical camcorder (like the Sony or Panasonic HDR series) will come with bundled applications (such as Picture Motion Viewer) that enable you to view (and sometimes edit) these type of files, you might run into problems every now and then.

Most of the problems result from errors in the registry regarding file associations – thus, as a first line of defense you might want to check the registry file associations with an appropriate registry editing software. However, you can also go ahead and download a third party application that enables you to run the M2TS files.

A well-recommended suggestion in this regard is to download the Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra – a powerful video player that supports AVCHD formats, including files with the M2TS extension. Moreover, this player supports a wide range of other high definition video formats – almost anything from the standard AVI, DVD, MPG, DVD-mini, WMA, DivX Pro formats to the more recent Bluray formats that are in circulation.

This software package also comes with other cool features such as positioning of the subtitles bar below the video window for clarity, karaoke features, advanced audio output controls, and the like – all of which is integrated into a user friendly interface. The main window has a main video dock with two pullouts – one for audio controls and the other for auxiliary features.

Moreover, this application also increases your video editing abilities with the support of several codecs that are required for compatibility with packages such as VirtualDub.

You can purchase and download the latest version of the Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra software package from here.
