Actually first time when i saw Apple finally launched its iPad tablet computer last week, my first impression was “whoa, this thing is magical”, with price tag around $499, i guess it was a little bit unbelievable. but not until i googled and researched at official Apple site and few others, it was a little bit more complex. The Ipad packed with ambition, hard to mention in a couple of words until it’s actually available for sale, which is not in this near future. but i can conclude from Apple’s launch and after some research.
The keyboard better than I expected, just like a jumbo version of iPhone keyboard. more like a fusion from iPod and iPhone. the room between them are spacious that you’ll be tapping the right character much easier. it’s a simple keyboard enough for modest writing task such as emails, quick jots of text and so on. Will also work with Bluetooth keyboards. The price tag seems a lot more reasonable, consider it was like going to be sold at $1,000 or so, but for $499 you’ll get solid 16GB storage without 3G broadband and peaks out at $829 for one with At&T 3G and 64GB of storage. And you got all iPhone application run on it which means it’ll work with more than 150,000 programs from the day it shipped. But the bad news are you have to deal with most of the program are designed for the iPhone sized-screen. it’ll take a while before developers build applications exclusively for iPads.
As for me , the things that make iPad less cool are it doesn’t have a camera, and run solely on Apple’s program, without support for Adobe Flash technology ( it means less flv’s or youtube videos, flash content and some online games won’t work). and all run only in full screen mode. Although Apple softwares that packed with iPad are marvelous, such as photo viewer, iWork, word processor and presentation program, you can’t print from the device. and the best thing is to create PDF files and move them to PC and print there. A little bit odd?
If you’re planning to buy it to make it your primary computer, it’s an absolutely not! not even a comparation to netbooks, a lot of people still get more comfort with traditional looks of PC.It’s not prepared to substitute your main PC. For that, it has to be something that can run a wider variety of software, and work with printers and other devices. don’t forget its capacity that only a few GBs compared to even the smallest netbook. and if it’s not enough, take a look at the 9.7-inch display and you’ll start wondering why Apple build jumbo-sized iPhone? But for you who might have bought a netbook in the past as a secondary computer will buy an iPad instead, and be pleased with the purchase, especially if they’re primarily interested in consuming music, movies, e-books, and Web pages.
In conclusion if you’re intended to buy an iPad, at least wait until march to make your decision, when the first units ship. And if the history of the iPhone repeated, It’ll be a second-generation iPad in 2011 that fixes most of its biggest flaws and packs more features with more competitive price of course.
