Add People Pictures To Google Contacts From Picasa

August 24th, 2010

Picasa 3.8 has been launched with some amazing features, we have already talked about several Picasa tips which you can use to make it more useful for you. Another great feature that has been integrated with Picasa is that it allows you to add people pictures to your google contacts by uploading the people thumbnail photos.

It will take the image thumbnails as per the name tags you have added to your photos collection in Picasa, but if you have not tagged any one in photos with Picasa this feature is not at all going to be useful for you. In order to upload the people thumbnails, go to File Menu, Tools >> Upload – Upload People Thumbnails

upload-people-contacts

It will ask if “you want to upload and replace all the thumbnail photos from your People Albums to your Google Contacts”. If you click on “Upload”, Picasa saves the photos to Google Contacts and you can see them in Gmail or in any other application that synchronizes with Google Contacts.

If you don’t want to upload photos for all your contacts, you can click on one of the people from Picasa’s sidebar, right on a photo and select “Set as Google Contacts Thumbnail”. You can also enable “Upload people album thumbnails to Google Contacts” from Tools/Options/Name Tags (or Picasa/Preferences/Name Tags on a Mac) to upload the new thumbnails you select in Picasa.

August 15th, 2010

We generally use Windows as it is widely spread in our country and we usually avoid to work on any other OS as then we will have to change all the tools which we used initially on our OS and then all the options in toolbar, menubar or in the context menu will change. But still there is a feature which are embedded in these OS, specially MAC OS which attracts us. Today i will be reviewing a tool which is nothing but a transformation pack knows as Snow Transformation Pack and will help you to take a taste of MAC OS with altering any feature of your Windows OS.

The most attracting feature of MAC OS is its looks and appearance which is very much cool to work on. This transformation pack will help you change all the appearance of the Windows to MAC OS and then your OS will look exactly similar to the Macintosh. All the folders icons, the scroll bar, title bar and many more features will be changed as per MAC OS.

How Can I Manually Update Google Chrome?

August 9th, 2010

Google chrome has the added feature of getting automatically updated whenever a new version of the browser is available. The great advantage of this browser is that the update process does not require user interface. Although the update process occurs silently without prompting the user it may be time consuming and may be delayed due to load and propagation time from Google Servers.

If you are a technology wizard and cannot stand to function with older versions of software and browsers you may want to consider manually upgrading the Google chrome browser. You may follow the given steps to get the updated version of your Google chrome.

If you are using windows all you need to do is click the tools menu and select about Google chrome there. If the updates are currently available, an Update button will be visible. You may simply click the button and the updates will be downloaded and installed. To use the latest version you will simply have to restart the browser after closing the browser window.

If you are using Mac you will simply have to select Chrome in the tool bar and then select about Google chrome. In case any new updates are available which have not been installed yet a Update Now button will be active. You simply have to click this button to update your browser.

If Google Chrome is installed in your Applications folder, or if it is detected that glitches may be faced during an update attempt, you may find a Set Up Automatic Updates for All Users button in the About window. You will also find this button in a banner at the top of the browser window on initiating Google Chrome. You may click this button and verify to ensure that Google Chrome will be able to keep itself updated. If you are using Linux you may need to use your package manager to check for updates.

New 7″ iPad, New iPod Shuffle, iPhone 5 Coming ? [ Rumors ]

August 6th, 2010

2010 has been one hell of an year for Apple. This year has seen more innovation from Apple than in the last 5 years combined. Early in the year, Apple announced its revolutionary tablet product, the iPad, was launched, and which received tremendous success. In fact, in a recent published statistic, it was pointed that with the iPad, Apple now has the 3rd largest market share in the mobile computing industry, just behind HP and Acer.

Apple also announced the 4th generation model of its hugely successful smartphone, the iPhone 4, which brought to the market features such as FaceTime video calling over wi-fi and the Retina Display. Even though Apple had to face some issues because of the much talked about signal-loss issue of the iPhone 4 (when held in a particular way, esp in the left hand), overall the iPhone 4 has been successful and the demand for it is still going high.

Then we also had the recently announced iMacs and the Magic Trackpad (read the linked articles for more info).

Even after all these new product launched this year, it is rumored that Apple has some other new products rolled up its sleeve for launch this year. We bring you some of the details.

  1. iPod – Apple’s iPod line is believed to be getting a revamp. With the amazing new camera included in the iPhone 4, there are bound to be speculations that the new iPod Touch (4th Gen) will also include a camera, possibly even 2 (which would effectively bring FaceTime calls to the iPod Touch.

The iPod Nano and Classic may also receive a bump up in terms of screen size or capacity, but there seems to be no news of any big new hardware/features coming to these devices this year.

An image of a small touchscreen prototype, however, was leaked to the internet a while ago, and by its size, it suggests a whole new iPod Shuffle, which might have this screen as the touch panel and display.

  2. iPad – A 7″ inch iPad is probably the most strongly rumored product that is expected to launch later this year. Apple has been experimenting with touchscreen devices of this size, and it was also rumored that the original iPad was supposed to be the 7″ inch one. Lets hope we have a cheaper and more iPad in our hands by the end of the year.
  3. iPhone 5 – As mentioned earlier, Apple has faced a lot of negative publicity with the issue surrounding the antenna reception problems on the iPhone 4. Apple even went ahead and hosted a press conference where they publicly accepted that the iPhone 4 had reception issues (though they claimed that it is something that every phone would experience) and offered to give away free cases to each and every iPhone 4 customer.Due to all this bad word around the iPhone 4, Apple is believed to be working on releasing the next generation of the iPhone (possibly iPhone 5) which would deal with the reception issues, and would probably feature a redesign, with the stainless steel antenna + body design changed partially or completely. All we know for sure right now is that something in going on inside Apple, and Steve Jobs is trying very hard to keep news about what’s going on at Apple, inside it.
