July 6th, 2010

Do you feel Search Bar feature in Firefox navigation Toolbar is unnecessary for your daily need and feel that it takes up place that you could use for something else ? You don’t have to worry any more as you can customize your Firefox navigation toolbar the way you’d exactly want it to be.

Customized to suit our needs, the Search Bar featured on the Firefox Navigation Toolbar can now be easily removed.

For this you need to Go to View and select Toolbars. Click on the Customize button. Alternately you can right click any of the Toolbars be it the Navigation bar, the Bookmarks toolbar or your menu bar and choose the Customize option.

Now drag and drop the Search bar from the Firefox Navigation toolbar on the Customize Toolbar window. Finish off the task by clicking the “Done” button and closing the Customize Toolbar window. This allows the search box to be removed from the navigation bar.

In contrast to this, if you intend to add the Search Bar to your Firefox Navigation toolbar, Open the Customize Toolbar window using the above mentioned steps and locate the Search item. Now drag and drop the search bar on the Navigation toolbar in the position which is most convenient for your use.

How Can I Upload Videos Onto www.MyChurch.org Profile?

March 16th, 2010

How to upload a video to your MyChurch profile

MyChurch is a social networking site that is modeled closely after MySpace and Facebook – the only difference being that this site puts an emphasis on Christianity and Christians. Although the look and design of this site is fairly up-to-date, it does not, as of now, have the ability for members to host videos as is possible in MySpace. However, if you upload your video on to a video sharing site such as YouTube first, MyChurch give you the option to link your YouTube video to your MyChurch profile.

Here is what you have to do.

  1. Upload your video on YouTube first.
  2. Log in to your MyChurch account.
  3. Click on the Write link in the navigation bar to the top – this will take you to a new blogpost kind of a page.
  4. Enter a suitable title for the post – anything you want, and preferably something related to the video you are going to upload.
  5. In the tools list above the compose field, you will see the Videos link. Click on it.
  6. A dialog will pop up asking for the details of the video. Copy the URL (the address in the address bar of the browser) of the video from your YouTube account, and paste it in the Video URL field.
  7. After a few moments, a preview of the video should appear in the dialog just below the Video URL field. This allows you to verify that MyChurch has recognized your video and that it is indeed the one you wish to upload.
  8. After this, click on Insert Code tab, just below the preview, and your video will be uploaded to your MyChurch post.
  9. Close the dialog.
  10. Publish the post that you had started in Step 3 above.

You can do this to link a video from any of the popular video sharing sites – including Google Video, Metacafe, Yahoo! Video, etc.

How Can I Improve, Enhance, Make Better Browsing Experience With Internet Explorer

March 12th, 2010

Tweak Internet Explorer to Enhance Speed

Most Internet Explorer (IE) users complain about its slow speed, and how much time it takes to start up, and load web pages. However, a few tweaks will ensure that your IE experience becomes twice as fast. This article will tell you how to carry out these minor modifications – all you have to do is follow the steps listed out below.

IE Tweak 1

  1. Launch Internet Explorer, and select the option Tools -> Internet Options.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Settings field, scroll down to the heading called Multimedia. There, you have to clear the check-boxes next to the following options (as per your preference):
    1. Play animations in webpages
    2. Play sounds in webpages
    3. Show pictures
  4. Click on Apply, and then OK.

However, the problem with this tweak is that it will greatly restrict your internet experience – all at the cost of speed. This might not be an attractive option to many.

IE Tweak 2

  1. Again, open the Internet Options dialog.
  2. Select the Content tab.
  3. Under the AutoComplete section, click on the tab that says Settings.
  4. Clear the check-boxes next to the Forms and User names and password on formsoptions.
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Click on OK at the Internet Options dialog.

IE Tweak 3

  1. Open the Internet Options dialog, and select the Security tab.
  2. Under the Security level for this zone section, click on the tab that says – Custom Level…
  3. In the list that you see, select the Disable option for any (or all) of the following:
    1. ActiveX controls and plugins
    2. Java
    3. Scripting
  4. Click on OK.
  5. Click on OK in the Internet Options dialog.

This tweak too, like Tweak 1 above, will greatly limit your internet browsing experience and you might not like it. However, if you want speed at all costs, it might be worth it.
