Is RegCure a Good Registry Repair Tool For Windows Vista?

March 6th, 2010

regcuregigaRegCure registry cleaner software is very popular these days. However, many users keep asking if it’s a good registry repair tool for Windows Vista. In this article, we discuss our experience of running RegCure Registry Optimizer on a Windows Vista machine.

Hardware and OS used in our tests

We tested RegCure on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Core 2 Duo, with a genuine Vista Ultimate installed. This machine is pretty fast as it is, but we wanted to run RegCure on it to see if optimizing the Vista registry could make this machine boot and work even faster.

Is RegCure for the average user?

It is. RegCure’s user interface is very easy to understand and use. All the important features like scanning your registry for errors, performing registry backup, fixing the errors, configuring the program settings, and managing start up items are easily accessible.

How good is RegCure in detecting registry errors?

Most PC users know by this point that the Windows registry tends to accumulate a lot of junk the more you use your Vista. This explains the well-known fact that a brand-new Vista installation is significantly faster in the beginning, but gets slower and slower unless the registry is cleaned up at least once a week.

RegCure promises to easily discover and fix all registry errors so that your PC runs like new at all times. We’ll see if it actually keeps its promise and makes your PC run faster, but it sure does dig deep to uncover all possible garbage in Vista’s registry.

When we ran RegCure in auto-scan mode and told it to find all invalid items, RegCure detected 177 junk entries in our registry. This makes sense since the laptop had Vista installed for about 8 months, and we never did any registry cleaning.

Can RegCure make your PC or laptop run faster?

Before we scanned the registry with RegCure, we recorded the start up time of Vista, which turned out to be 2 minutes and 5 seconds. After RegCure fixed all errors, we took out our stopwatch again, and this time the machine took only 1 minute and 14 seconds to boot. An impressive 40% improvement!

Given the above results, we are pretty happy with RegCure, and will continue to test it on different flavors of Vista to see how well it performs.

The Best Vista Registry Cleaner

March 5th, 2010

box_rm_iconAs time goes by, and many Vista PCs become less and less reliably, a lot of people are trying to find a registry cleaner that’s going to help improve the performance of their system. Registry tools are often proclaimed as being able to speed up your system and stop errors. Although many people shunt this claim, the truth is that not all registry cleaners can do this. Only a handful of registry cleaners can boost the performance of Vista, and it’s vital that you use one of those.

The problem with many registry cleaners is that since their job is quite complex, many of the tools out there are unable to clean out your system in the way that people promise. All registry cleaners work in the same way – which is to scan through the ‘registry’ inside Windows and remove any of the damaged registry entries that are in there.

Registry entries are settings that your computer stores inside the registry database, allowing your computer to remember various different details about your PC. However, Windows is prone to corrupting these settings, making it very difficult for Windows to read them when it wants, slowing it down and causing a large number of errors. Registry cleaners are meant to fix these problems by correcting any of the damaged registry entries…

Unfortunately, many registry utilities are not able to do their job very well on Vista, for several reasons. The main problem with most registry tools is that they are only designed by amateur coders, who only have the knowledge to make the cleaner remove just empty registry entries. These cleaners are no use at all, because they do not fix any of the real issues that affect Vista. Most problems are caused by invalid registry entries, and the best cleaners should be able to find all these invalid entries inside your system.

The other problem that many registry tools have on Vista is a simple incompatibility. These tools scan through the database and remove any of the settings that Windows might have inside there. However, the database is full of new and updated entries that only up-to-date cleaners can recognize. Many Vista registry cleaners are not actually designed for Vista, and end up trying to remove many ‘healthy’ registry settings, which makes your PC unable to run very well at all.

The best registry repair for Vista is the one which is updated enough to find & remove all the issues that your PC has, as well as being able to remove invalid registry entries. Typically, these features are defined by the company that produces the software and the amount of registry categories that the cleaner can scan through. The best Vista registry cleaner will be developed by a large development company and will be able to scan through 15+ types of registry error.

We have been using registry cleaners since 2006, and have found that one called “RegCure” works the best on Windows Vista. RegCure is a popular tool and has been designed to be as effective as possible for your computer, by scanning through 11 different registry errors. It’s also updated regularly by its development company, Pareto Logic, making it effective for Vista. RegCure was able to find and fix the most errors on our Vista test PCs.

Tips To Choose A Registry Cleaner

January 28th, 2010

registryWhen it comes to maintaining a computer, there is no aspect that is more dangerous for a normal user than for him/ her to modify the Windows registry. This modification is usually done as a last resort when troubleshooting of issues is being done. If you look at the documentation, it clearly states that only advanced users should modify the registry. This is because if the Windows registry is messed up, the computer’s software may stop working. Worse still, the computer may not even boot up.

The difficult job of cleaning up the registry should be done by a good registry cleaning program, which scans your computer and locates and cleans out common issues. The pros and cons of many registry cleaning programs are available on the Internet and you can peruse these carefully. When choosing a program, ensure that it is one that allows you to take a backup of your settings and does a thorough job of cleaning the registry. Also check on money back guarantees with the seller.

In order to test and choose a good registry cleaner, you will need to set up multiple computers with the same identical features, software and operating systems and include the same registry problems in all. Review the results of running each cleaner program and compare the results.

While there are many sites that provide you comparisons, it is advised to do your own research before choosing a program. As you use your computer, you will find that this will be very beneficial.

Paid Registry Repair Software vs. Free Registry Cleaner

January 20th, 2010

registry cleaner comparisonFor those who make extensive use of computers, the importance of registry repair software is well known. Registry errors occur quite frequently when there are viruses as well and working on these systems subsequently becomes impossible.  Cleaning out these errors improves the machine’s overall efficiency to a large extent and registry cleaners save a lot of our energy and valuable time.

The market has a lot of registry repair software and these are available for download free of cost as well. The internet also has the paid version which can be purchased. Many people opt for the free version, which further causes damages to the entire computer since they are fully functional.

The information stored on your computer will be open to be hacked if the free version is used since quite often malware or spyware gets downloaded along with the download of the free version. This in turn leads to slowing down the system more. And, to cause more damage, Trojans can also automatically get installed.

Apart from this, the capability of solving all problems and repairing all damaged files and folders is not available in the free version. They can be illegal, apart from the fact that they take a long time to scan the files and programs on your computer. This can lead to system failures and even unusual popup menus that can be very irritating.

The legal and licensed version, on the contrary, has a whole host of advantages since it will be safe to use on the computer and make the system as good as new. You can scan the system after creating a backup of it and later restore the backed up data once the scanning of files and folders is done. All errors are fixed, irrelevant files and removed and the computer is made to work faster.

You might be a lay-person when it comes to using the computer hardware and software. By getting the paid version of registry cleaning software, you will be sure that even without much knowledge of it, you can get your computer to function as smoothly as before. There is a lot of ease of access and the interface is very user friendly.
