What Are Your Choices in Sound Isolating Earphones?

Sound Isolating Earphones are becoming very popular now that MP3 players, IPods and even PDAs are capable of storing and playing large quantities of music having the same tonal quality which we used to get solely from full-sized home stereos. We all know the best sound equipment is only as good as its sound delivery components – and the headphones that come packaged with most IPods are practically worthless. Therefore, it is worth looking at several respectable brands of sound isolating earphones, which may allow you to benefit from the full range of sound on your MP3.

The Shure Sound Isolating Earphones serve as a great illustration of successful sound delivery. This manufacturer made its mark by making microphones for music studios in many countries, so we might presume they make respectable headphones too. Shure offers both plastic and foam earbuds, although the foam earbuds are far superior, particularly regarding their ability to transmit bass tones.

Even those foam earbuds, unfortunately, still offer a very weak bass, but the high frequency tones are spectacular. This set of earphones may not replicate concert-hall music, but you will be able to enjoy an acceptable range of sound regardless of the type of music you listen to.

Etymotic Research created a fairly respectable pair of sound isolation earphones they refer to as the ER-6 Isolators. For $139, it is a good value for a opinionated audiophile. These products come with several different rubber or foam sleeves for your most ideal fit. They are by no means stylish, although they are lightweight in addition to being comfortable. The range of sounds is reasonable considering the price, but if you listen to sophisticated, layered music you will discover that the high frequency sounds and overtones are particularly difficult to identify, though the bass tracks are fairly pronounced. Another great option are the Sennheiser PXC-250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones.

Ultimate Ears is a rather new manufacturer which cut its teeth producing recording equipment for professional musicians and has recently started producing consumer products. Ultimate Ears’ Super.fi 5EB comes with some rather impressive sound delivery. If you are drawn to bass-driven rock or hip-hop music, these beautiful buds will answer your requirements. The rest of the sound range is not well represented, however, so listening to Jazz tracks will quickly prove to be an exercise in frustration. The earpieces are a bit clunky and the overall design is inelegant, so the $199 list price seems a bit excessive unless you live and die for the bass guitar.

The earphones which come with personaldelivery systems are remarkably ineffective. If you are planning to invest any amount of money for a few of these appliances, you should just add to it the price of a effective pair of headphones just to get your money’s worth.
